How to correct Name, Date of Birth, Gender Online in UAN as per Aadhaar


If you tried to link your Aadhaar with your UAN and were unable to do because of mismatch in Name, Date of Birth(DOB) or Gender between UAN data and Aadhaar data then you can use the new functionality provided in the UAN portal to update details.

Process to Correct Name, Date of Birth & Gender Details Online

The process involves employee raising the online request by logging in to UAN website.  The request will then be forwarded to Employer where employer can approve or reject the request online. If the employer approves then request will go to  EPFO Field Office where Dealing Assistant, Section Supervisor and then APFC/RPFC can approve or reject the request.

Steps for Correction

Step 1 – Login to Member Interface of Unified Portal https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ using your UAN and Password.

Step 2 – Go to Manage under tab then click on Modify Basic Details

Step 3 – Provide the correct details as per Aadhaar (System will verify the details entered with UIDAI- Aadhaar Data) such as Aadhaar Number, Name, Date of Birth and choose gender then click on update.

If your Aadhaar is already linked to UAN then you cannot modify your details by this process. You will get a message that Aadhaar is already verified. Your details aren’t editable. In case if something wrong then you have to submit the change request form duly signed, to EPFO through your employer. Link to application is here.

Step 4 – On clicking Update Details, the request will be submitted to the employer for further approval. Till the employer has not verified the details, the status will show as Pending at Employer. If already pending at employer then one can also withdraw the request by clicking on X to delete request under Action.

Step 5 – After successfully approved by employer, your request will be automatically submitted to concern EPFO and then the status will shown as Approved by employer -> Pending at (epf office name) field office.

The EPFO has not yet provided any time limit for processing EPF UAN basic details correction requests. Also, as this is a new online facility, you may face some technical issues in submitting the online request.

Correction process at EPFO

  • In the EPFO office, the Dealing Hand will submit his recommendations, Recommended for Approval or Recommended for Rejection with proper remarks, online in the Field Office Interface of Unified Portal.
  • This request will then be verified by Section Supervisor.
  • Finally, Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner(APFC)/Regional Provident Fund Commissioner (RPFC) can Approve/Reject the case.
