The hardest truth of life| Everything is temporary

Everything is temporary:

Everything. The good times, the laughs, our triumphs, all are temporary. People are temporary, Feelings are temporary. The relationships that color our worlds are temporary. Nothing lasts forever. Everything ends, even life itself. Not yours or mine, but the life of our universe will alsoone day come to an end.

It’s true, of course, that every ending opens the door for a new beginning. This is a positive way to look at it. But still, endings mean that loss is inevitable. And this, here, is a truth I find hard to tolerate.

No one is irreplaceable:

No matter what your place in the world is, how important in the eyes of others you think you are, how dependent on you some people are, you could easily be replaced. In fact, you WILL be replaced, eventually. It’s nothing personal. There are just too many people in the world, and life needs to keep going. It cannot stop or halt when you’re gone.

It hurts as hell to realize that you’re just another person in the world, but it’s true. The sooner you accept this harsh truth, the more liberated you will be.

Steve Jobs was not only the CEO of Apple. He was the spirit of Apple. Yet, one day, his time was up – he passed away. Apple had to continue after him. Tim Cook had already replaced him as CEO. And now He’s leading the company that Steve co-founded, making the decisions Steve used to make. Standing on the stages Steve has crowned for decades.

………..And you, too, will one day be replaced.

Pain is an essential part of life:

Whether physical or emotional, we’re all subjected to pain. It doesn’t matter how lucky we are, how much strength we show, life will hurt us and bring us to our knees.

We’re bound to get sick, feel weak and powerless. No one can take away that pain. We’re bound to be heartbroken, feel alone, and worthless. No one will take away that pain, either. You’ll have to handle it one way or another.

Some develop strategies to minimize their suffering. Others give up and favor death. All try to escape pain. None succeeds, eventually.

Life is not fair:

Don’t tell me Karma”, What goes around & comes around”. Don’t sell me whatever philosophy you base your life on to blind yourself from the harsh truth that life sometimes makes no sense.

The world is full of injustice and cruelty, but some are luckier than others. You and I are extremely lucky to be able to communicate in the speed of light through this magical piece of glass. We’re very lucky to have access to high-speed internet, while others don’t have access to clean water.

Every day, children are dying of hunger, AIDS and diarrhea. And it beats the shit out of me to understand in what logic this keeps happening.

Time only goes forward:

It sounds silly to point this out, but, my god, how unbelievably important it is to really, really, really, understandthis. We all know that time doesn’t go backwards, yet we still don’t seem to be fully aware of what this actually means.

Time only goes forward means that whatever you’ve done in the past, you cannot undo. Whatever you’ve said, you cannot take back. The regrets you have will only grow older. The mistakes you’ve made will only go further….from you. Your childhood hopes will only be buried deeper……in your memory.

We know all of that, yet somehow we manage to spend our lives tacitly presuming we’re going to live forever. “I still have time” we foolishly keep repeating to ourselves.

We wait before we express our feelings taking the first step towards our dreams. We wait and wait until one day we wake up to the fact that we were too late.

This, in my view, is the worst hard truth among all of the above. For the simple reason that it means that whatever we’ve made with the previous four, we have no second chance to get things right.
