Everyone knows coronavirus is on-trend right now. Everyone is fearing of getting it. So the main solution we hear from everyone is if you don’t wanna get it your immune system must be strong. So now comes the question of how to optimize your immune system?
The first solution is to sleep. If you don’t get enough sleep regularly like seven to nine hours at the same time, ideally every night. You are going to be hurting your immune cells known as natural killer cells.
Research has shown if you sleep less than six hours a night, the number of these natural killer cells, they are the ones that actually fight of COVID-19 drops by up to 50%. So you need to be getting your sleep in, because that is one of your first defences in protecting yourself against the virus.
Second, you have to eat healthily. Now, do I have a magic formula of what you should be eating? Absolutely not. You should be eating a diet that’s rich in fruits and vegetables, and then you have to make a decision for yourself what you need to be eating.
Every patient needs a different plan. There is no magic diet that anyone can recommend you. Not intermittent fasting, not keto. None of these is magic solutions for COVID-19.
Next is exercise. Just because we are quarantined doesn’t mean it’s an excuse to not exercise. So pick up your tablet, your phone, take a class. There are all sorts of free classes that are being given by companies. Go outside on your terrace for a run or a jog. You don’t have to be next to someone to do a run.
There are people who actually started doing a lot of these calisthenic boot camp style exercises in their living rooms and they found out how out of shape they are, even though they were able to run, but they couldn’t do these exercises. So I think, have fun with it. Do your exercise.
And the final one which could really hamper your immune system is bad habits like smoking, which can increase your risk of having a severe case of COVID-19 two to three times and overdrinking.
So follow all these three basic solutions which will not only optimize your immune system but also keep you healthy.
